This page gives you the details you need for contacting the two committees that administer the UNSW Orchestra and the UNSW Wind Band (collectively called the LIME -- Large Instrumental Music Ensembles).

The student organisation – The Society of Orchestra and Pipers (SOAP) looks after the day-to-day activities of the LIME: registration of players, rehearsals, scheduling of concerts, liaison with conductors and players (including social gatherings), and small-scale fund-raising.

The SOAP Committee is elected each year at the SOAP AGM by the players in the LIME.

The President of SOAP in 2009/2010 is Michelle Kwok.

The LIME Steering Committee is a group representing all the recognised UNSW stakeholders in the operations of the LIME. These stakeholders are currently The Music Performance Unit, the discipline of Music and Music Education (within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences), the SOAP Committee, and the Long-Term Players in the LIME.

This committee of 9 members functions according to a purpose-written Constitution, acknowledged by the University. The Constitution was most recently revised on 3 October 2007.

The LIME Steering Committee approves all financial aspects of the operation of the LIME, other than the small-scale fundraising done by the SOAP Committee. It is not, however, involved in the day-to-day operations of the LIME. Financial aspects, overseen by the LIME Steering Committee, include budgeting, contracts with the conductors, venue and music hire, administration of funds donated via the UNSW Foundation, and accounting to the University for the expenditure of funds received.
